Preselection Procedure

5 September 2016

Between 1 July 2016 (deadline for entries) and 31 August 2016 (results of the preselection) we had exactly two months to deal with 641 productions from 264 organisations in 35 countries.

This extensive and full-time job was done by 12 independent experts who don’t belong to any broadcaster and don’t have an entry of their own.

Each submission was screened or listened to, checked and evaluated at least twice in written form following the parameters of the particular voting sheet for each category.
Our preselection aims to offer an overview of European media production not only including the national, regional or local broadcasters but also independent producers and fresh talents.
This has to be a balance between the entries from big and small countries/organisations, between new and traditional ways of communication, between topical subjects and personal stories covering the basic trends of programming and individual styles of production. The result is a multifaceted panorama consisting of 233 programmes, projects, ideas, challenges in the eleven categories of the competition.
