Bogdana Lazarova, Bulgaria / Coordinator TV/Video Investigation

‘The successful formula of public television, such as the Bulgarian National Television, is in the balance between quality and viewership. Public television cannot afford to attract an audience at any cost and through compromises. It must continue to build its already established image as a corrective to subculture and commercial content and a guarantor of public values. Public television programmes and broadcasts are on issues that affect a very wide national audience and are of great importance to public life. Therefore, public television is a flagship with its objectivity and credibility, which earns the trust of viewers. Viewers' trust is the capital of public television.’

Bogdana Lazarova is the author and executive producer of the investigative journalism programme of the Bulgarian National Television ‘Traces remain’. She is a long-time investigative journalist, hosted a show about investigative journalism on Darik Radio (Sofia) and has written 3 books on journalistic investigation. For her investigations, she has won 7 Bulgarian and international awards and 6 nominations for awards. She is a member of the jury of the ‘Daphne Galicia’ international media festival for investigative journalism established in 2021 by the European Parliament.
